In the hustle and bustle of the digital age, while online platforms dominate our entertainment, the value of a physical book remains a "lighthouse" guiding the intellect and the soul. Joining the vibrant atmosphere of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21) and World Book and Copyright Day (April 23), Nam Dinh University of Technology and Education (NUTE) proudly organized a series of meaningful activities to celebrate the power of reading.
The year 2026 marks the 5th milestone of our collective journey in honoring reading culture. With the core messages "Good books need readers" and "Precious books for friends," the University hopes that no book will sit idle on a shelf. Instead, each should begin a new journey, bringing knowledge to those who need it most.
This event is more than just a commemorative ceremony; it carries profound humanistic values:
Promoting Academic Traditions: Affirming the vital role of books in shaping character and developing critical thinking.
Building a Learning Community: Encouraging reading as a personal habit among staff, lecturers, and students to foster a lifelong learning society.
Honoring Knowledge: Recognizing the contributions of books to teaching, learning, and scientific research.
Community Connection: Creating a healthy, practical playground that raises awareness of reading culture within a technical and pedagogical environment.
The highlight of this year’s activities was the 2026 Book Exchange Festival—a place where pre-loved books find new owners and knowledge is continuously circulated. Participants engaged through two main forms:
Exchange: Bringing books, documents, textbooks, or novels to the Library to trade for other needed materials.
Donation: Generously contributing valuable books to the University’s collective resource collection.
Over the past week, faculty members, staff, and students have enthusiastically participated. The diversity of materials brought in—ranging from specialized textbooks to literary classics—has significantly enriched the University Library's archives.
Every book handed over is a "green sprout" of knowledge sown into the world. Our teachers and students have turned the 5th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day into a true festival of intellect and sharing. Together, we are extending the journey of these pages and ensuring that the reading culture at Nam Dinh University of Technology and Education continues to thrive and flourish.
